I read about the ending/soon RIP of Windows XP family on Apr 14. It is very complicated to even grasp the terms like Product Life Cycle and Product Life Cycle Terms for a typical person who only use Windows for surfing the Internet, emails, for work and or entertain (YouTube/MySpace). On here, the following will be described for Windows XP as-
1. Release date for Windows Vista- Jan 30, 2007
2. Release date for Windows XP product family- Jan 2001
3. Product Lifecyle as per describe by Microsoft website- support will end two years after Windows Vista release.
Jan 2009 approx. (Clue- maybe another OS or Windows Vista or forget this techo hype?)
4. Microsoft said on news release- OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture)- eg- HP, Sony, Acer, Toshiba will not be able to obtain Windows XP after Jan 31, 2008.
5. There are more to this then most people read to this news release. For more info there are the links provided at the end of this post.
In the Microsoft website- Product Life Cycle divided to two groups: Mainstream Support Phrase and Extended Support Phrase.
Mainstream Support Phrase- If you purchase Windows XP at Best Buy in a box or website for example: you are affected to the terms of the Product Life Cycle next year. For OEM, please contact your computer manufacture and consult Microsoft Product Life Cycle Website.
