If you have not used Opera browser, you should have a test drive. Its very cool and safe for browsing. I use it for daily browsing when I could. Its equally as safe as Firefox. When you head to an unsafe webpage, it will show you a warning page, unsafe for browsing(or some other choices etc). What is so neat about this is that they use Haute secure, and these folks were ex-employees of Microsoft. Haute is to detect malware and websites. There are others like: McAfee SiteAdvisor, LinkScanner and more.
Haute, I find is very vigilant on malware detection, unlike SiteAdvisor, which is community based, which is also good on its own ways.
